Omnibus Law 101

On 2 November 2020, Indonesia Government has finally enacted the new law regarding Job Creation named Law No. 11 of 2020 on Job Creation (“Omnibus Law”). This law is published in the State Gazette of the Republic Indonesia of 2020 No. 245 and Supplement to the State Gazetter No. 6573.

The Omnibus law marks the very first law in Indonesia to ever amend various regulation regulates different sectors. The law contains its own provisions, as well as amends, delete, or enact new provisions in 78 laws. The final document itself contains more than 1000 pages, divided into pages consist of the actual amendments and pages of eludication. Please take a note if the amendment is not conducted to the whole regulation as listed but mainly to several Chapters and Articles which considered irrelevant to the current ambience of Job Creation in Indonesia.
The creation of Omnibuslaw is complex though, there are a lot of debates and protests raising due to its unpopular substance. It gets more attention as many versions of the manuscript was leaked to the public and create confusion. Perception of regulation making violation also emerge as public assumed that the manuscript is being edited not in proper period as ruled. But, putting the debate aside, the Omnibus bill is finally signed and the official regulation.
